NFL Power Rankings going into Week 2.

Week 1 of the new NFL brought a lot of excitement and unexpected surprises. The Steeler's broke through the odds with an overtime win against the ferocious Titans with Ben Roethlisberger at the helm. The late game fumble was not enough to trump the defending Superbowl Champions from their first week win.

Though Michael Vick must wait a few more games before playing with the Eagles rumors are abound that he will not start even though leading quarterback Donovan Mcnabb won't be expected to play for the next few weeks.

So far, this season is shaping up to be groundbreaking but the main power players leading up to week 2 will determine the fate of the playoffs and the Superbowl in Miami.

1: Steelers: As mentioned before the returning Champions proved that the season break didn't slow down their game winning an overtime battle against the Titans. Though Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu will be out of commission for the next three to six weeks the Steeler's defense is still the best in the league.

Their offense is still strong though their passing game sputters more than cruise. The injuries will affect the Steelers coming up in Week 2 but they are still the top contenders on the field.

2: Patriots: The Patriots played the first hour of their game without much fanfare or excitement but Tom Brady blew away the competition with his 39 of 53 for 378 yards and two touchdowns within the last two minutes of the game. The Patriots are still the team everybody either loves or loves to hate and it seems as though it will continue that way. Until they start performing extraordinary continuously it may be difficult to go up against the Steelers for the top spot.

3: Eagles: The Eagles are still strong and may become even stronger once the team repairs a few broken feathers. With the injury of Donovan Mcnabb the teams main offense may not be as powerful as it could be but the Eagles have signed Jeff Garcia to back up Kevin Kolb in the upcoming games until Donovan gets better and Mike Vick gets his chance to shine.

Keep an eye on the Eagles. They're going to be a top contender in the playoffs.

4: Chargers: San Diego must be proud of their chargers for coming back strong after a sluggish start against their game with the Raiders. The Chargers are always known for the comebacks but this year their starting line will be a force to be reckoned with.

If the Chargers keep from making stupid decisions much like Phillip Rivers took when he taunted the Raiders causing a 15 yard penalty. Keep your eyes on the game boys.

5: Saints: What a surprise when Drew Brees threw the ball for 358 yards and gained six touchdowns against the Saints game against the Lions' defense. Drew Brees is shaping up to be one of the biggest start quaterbacks on the field with a quaterback rating of 137. The Saints are going to be people's favorite underdog.

This year is already exciting.
